A little while ago, I published a quick intro to my fantastic video interview with Jayne Franchino, who is the Senior Vice President, Global Operations at Pearson. We talked about the idea of resilience as an essential quality for future leaders in the supply chain and beyond.
If you missed that conversation, you can catch up by visiting our YouTube Channel, visiting the C-Suite Commentaries section of this website, or by pressing play on the video below!
But my chat with Jayne is not nearly all…
Did you know that our discussion is part of an ongoing YouTube video series from Supply Chain Leaders in Action (SLCA) called C-Suite Commentaries?

In addition to my conversation with Jayne about must-have leadership traits, I also checked in with retail industry C-Suite veteran Scott Munker (SVP Global Supply Chain at JCrew), Stephen M. Jones (VP Supply Chain & R&D IT Services at Campbell Soup Company), and—most recently—Jett McCandless (Founder and CEO of project44). Brief introductions to these conversations follow—and don’t forget to hit play on the embedded videos to see every moment of our enlightening discussions!
Scott Munker: 3 Principles to Building Winning Teams in the Supply Chain
I talked with Scott about his proven abilities to not only build great teams but keep them together—which has been no small feat in the COVID-19 pandemic era. He cites three big, universal factors required in creating thriving teams no matter what is happening in the wider world. Those are trust, teamwork, and effective communication.
Want to hear Scott’s take on why those three pillars are what the best teams are built upon—and discover what else has been necessary to remain competitive in our “new normal” times?
Stephen M. Jones: How We’re Engaging with Consumers is Changing
Stephen and I talked a bit about a topic that has been coming up a lot in our SCLA Think Tank group discussions recently—providing the best possible user experience for our customers.
The pandemic has caused many brands—especially those that ultimately serve consumers—to quickly refocus efforts on refining technology behind the scenes for better order fulfillment and supply chain visibility.
Discover more of what Stephen has to say from the perspective of a supply chain IT leader.
Jett McCandless: Building a SaaS (Software as a Service) Company Brick by Brick
Jett has been connected to SCLA for many years, and it’s been exciting to witness his creation of supply chain SaaS company project44 over the last decade or so, which has been quietly revolutionizing how the transportation industry connects.
In Jett’s words, “The industry needed API connectivity, someone to be the connective tissue, to provide real time visibility, automation, and collaboration for the shipments and inventory so shippers and carriers knew where shipments were and what to do next.” This is what p44 has done.
Learn more about Jett’s unique—and sometimes challenging—journey of building a successful software start-up beyond the bounds of Silicon Valley.
